THE MINE
Her entrance stands silent, deep and wide
Black as the midnight hour
Embracing men from all walks of life
In her dark, mysterious power.
Pulling - ever pulling
She grips men's very soul
Luring them into her dark endless depths
In search of the priceless black coal.
From the light of morn, til the dark of night
Men slave in her cold damp embrace
Men, young and old, black and white
She cares nothing of age or of race.
Cave-ins and slides are frequent and quick
"Black Lung" slowly chokes out your air
These are the prizes she gives in return
For a lifetime of toil down there.
Don't be deceived by her enchanting call
As men have been thru time
Take heed my brother, she's reaching for you
That dark, silent lure of the mine.
