ABOUT ME
My name is Mary Smith Roarick. I was born in a small mining town at Crystal Block, in Logan county, WV.
I'm from a big family of five brothers and three sisters. My father, Roy Wilson Smith, was a coal miner, so, that makes me a Coal Miners Daughter. My mother Mamie Mae Fox Smith, was a stay at home Mom.
I attended grade school at Yolyn and Slagle. I also attended Logan Central Jr. High and Logan High School. Unfortunately, I quit school (big mistake) in my Jr. year, but I did receive my GED.
I left WV and got married in March 7, 1968 to Richard Roarick. Richard and I raised his daughter (by his previous marriage) Deborah Ann. Deborah is married to Chris Hollaway. They have 2 sons, Andrew William and Benjamin Dean. Deb is an RN and lives in Connecticut.
Richard was in the Army, so we moved around quite a bit. We have lived in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Kentucky, Virginia , Illinois and have lived in Avon Park, Fl for 12 years and 4 months.. So guess where we are now?? We moved to Sumter, SC in February 2005. We now live just 28 miles from my sister and her family, who live in Camden, SC.
While in Colorado I graduated from Lane Beauty Academy in 1973. After working as a cometologist for four years, I decided that was not for me. So I started working in auto dealerships doing secretarial work. After we moved to Florida, I became disabled and had to quit work.
I became a christian in my mid teens and after I married and left home, I stopped going to church. So, needless to say, I left Jesus behind.
Now, I thank JESUS that I found HIM again in September 1998 and He gave me another chance to serve Him. Jesus is everything to me now and I don't know how I ever survived without Him.
I enjoy doing all kinds of crafts and listening to southern gospel music. and of course, working on my computer.
So that is pretty much my life story. So I hope you get a little enjoyment from my web pages and will come back and visit me often.
PLEASE don't forget to sign my guestbook to let me know you were here.
